Mechanical failure is the main cause of lifeboat callouts to yachts and motor cruisers.

This course is designed to give an awareness of the main systems of a marine diesel engine. It will enable you to take simple measures to prevent mechanical breakdown and rectify defects which do not require workshop support.

The course is run over 1 day and a Yanmar Marine 1GM 6.5 diesel engine and other ancillary components are available for you to have hands on practice changing fuel and oil filters, bleeding the fuel system and gain a knowledge of basic engine electrics.

The course is run on a continual assessment basis and upon successfull completion you will be issued with the RYA Diesel Engine Certicate.

Cost of this course is £75 and includes basic course materials plus a set of checklists.
